How to Apply to Kodaikanal International School

We welcome applications from students worldwide who can benefit from our comprehensive academic and extracurricular programs.

Rolling Admissions

At KIS, we accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year, ensuring flexibility for families. However, for students applying to Grades 11 and 12, admissions are more structured, and it is advisable to apply well in advance due to the rigorous nature of our IB and High School Diploma Programmes.

Application Process

To apply to KIS, follow these steps:

1. Connect with us over a Video Call

  • We believe that building a personal connection is key to ensuring a smooth transition for your child. A video call allows us to get to know your family better, answer any specific questions you might have, and provide a detailed overview of the KIS experience. This interaction helps us understand your child's unique needs and aspirations, ensuring that KIS is the right fit for their educational journey.

2. Complete the Online Application

  • Begin your application process by visiting our admissions portal at kisindia.openapply.com.
  • Complete and submit the Application Form after filling in all required sections.
  • Provide school records or reports for the last three years. If the originals are not in English, please ensure they are accompanied by a notarized English translation.
  • Obtain and upload a minimum of two Teacher References/Recommendations completed by your child's current teacher(s).
  • Upload a copy of your child's Passport (JPEG or PNG format) and Indian Aadhaar (if applicable).
  • Fill out all fields under the Parent Statement section.
  • For Grades 6 and above, the Student Statement must be submitted.

3. Visit KIS

  • We highly recommend that prospective families schedule a visit to our campus. This visit will provide a first-hand experience of our vibrant community, state-of-the-art facilities, and the beautiful natural surroundings that make KIS unique. Visits also offer an opportunity to meet with our faculty, explore the curriculum, and address any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s transition.

4. Assessments (conducted by the Admissions Office)

5. Interviews (by the respective academic coordinator and a Residential Life Team representative)

Review and Enrollment

Once all the required documents and assessments are submitted, your child's application will be reviewed by the Admissions team. Admission is based on the evaluation of the applicant’s current school records, assessment results, and the availability of space in the appropriate grade. The Admissions Office will notify you about the status of the application. If a place is not available, your child will be placed on a waiting list.

We encourage families to apply early, especially for Grades 11 and 12, to secure a place at KIS. We look forward to getting to know you and your child(ren) through the admissions process and welcoming you into our dynamic and diverse community.

Admission Discretion at Kodaikanal International School (KIS)

The Admissions Team at KIS reserves the right to refuse admission to a student under the following circumstances:

  • It is determined that the student would not academically benefit from the school’s programs.
  • The student’s scholastic or behavioral record is deemed unsuitable for the KIS school community.
  • The student is not represented by a parent or recognized adult guardian.
  • The student is unable to meet the academic credit requirements for a KIS diploma by the end of Grade 12 due to their previous course of study (for students applying immediately after the start of Grade 11).

KIS upholds the principle that it is unethical to admit a student whose educational, social, or emotional needs cannot be adequately supported by the school’s programs.
